VPN SERVER MAC EL CAPITAN MAC OS X
The server software I mentioned for El Capitan 10.11.6 and also Sierra is Server.app 5.2 and is totally different from the ancient Mac OS X Server software.
In this article, we’ll discuss the best VPNs for Mojave, Sierra, High Sierra, and El Capitan. El Capitan was the final version of Mac OS X, while Sierra, High Sierra, and the upcoming Mojave versions are all under the macOS name. If you’ve run into problems with VPNs since El Cap, I’d advise you to run a check and see if you’ve encountered the same problems. Mac OS X Server 10.5.2 is Leopard Server and is ancient and will not run on Macs made for the last eight years. In 2016, Apple launched the macOS operating system to replace Mac OS X. I found one specific issue–the /etc/pf.anchors/com.apple file had been returned to its default version–and also restarted the VPN service, and everything seems to be working well once again. I’d been having some minor problems with the VPN since updating to 10.11, so I walked back through these steps to see if I could isolate the problems. I looked at /var/log/system.log and it seems like it's saying one of the IKEv2 components is missing.

Now the two have joined forces once again to update the guide for El Capitan. When I setup an IKEv2 VPN, which I use from Windows without issues, on OSX 10.11.1 it refuses to connect.

(Great if you want to make sure that you maintain a secure connection while on public Wi-Fi.) A few months back I ran through using OS X Server on your Mac to set up a VPN, which allows you not only to access computers on your local network while you’re out and about, but also enables forwarding of all Internet traffic through the VPN connection.
